Full of Autumnal Colour

Image
I’m going to be honest with you, I haven’t written on this blog in a very long time, and it is all because I forgot my log in details 🤦🏼‍♀️😂!  But! I am back now! Ready to share some more colour-full clothing with all you lovely readers (if I have any 😂).  I even have a life update to share! My partner and I are in the process of buying our first home! And jeez has it been a stressful process! No one warned us that it was going to be as hard as it has been. We are 3 months into our house buying journey, and still could loose the property we are purchasing at any given moment. Such a nightmare! There has been what feels like a million ups and downs, and I am sure there are more to come. However, I am hoping next time I write on my blog, we will be settling into our new home.  Anyways! Fashion! I know it is no longer autumn, but I bought this amazing, corduroy dungaree dress in the Lucy and Yak sale. Their dungarees are THE BEST, as you can adjust them to be as l...

Last days of summer ☀️

Image
We are slowly but not so surely waving goodbye to summer - the climate crisis has of course made sure of that. Autumn is now ripening, which means bye bye summer wardrobe and hello winter wardrobe.  Before saying goodbye to summer completely, I wanted to share some of the favourite fashion conscious items that I wore during the last days of summer.  The amazing tie-dye dungarees are from Lucy and Yak. A very sustainable and caring clothing brand. Everything they design and make is kind to the climate, and kind to those who work with them.  The red and orange two-pieces, are from Monki and & Other Stories. Of course both of these companies fall under the umbrella of H&M, which I couldn’t believe was rated ‘Good’ on the Good On You sustainability scale - go H&M! They have certainly gone up in the world since I was a mini person. The brand has done a lot to achieve this rating (e.g., most of their clothing is made from recycled material, you can recycle yo...

Flower Power Fri-yay!

Image
It’s Friday!  Bank holiday Mondays are such a treat, but I always feel that the rest of the week feels much longer somehow?  I haven’t posted on here for a while. But I had a colour-full week last week, full of exciting garments. So, thought I would share.  I have decided to swear off fast, unsustainable fashion. The climate crisis is worsening rapidly so I am trying my hardest to do my bit for the planet. Including changing my lifestyle, clothing brands and household decor/ toiletries. If you want to start reducing your carbon footprint but aren’t sure where to start, there are two apps that I highly recommend! The first is ‘Good On You’, which gives you the sustainable ratings of clothing brands. You will be shocked at how unsustainable some of your favourite brands are! I certainly was! The second is ‘MLPF’, which is all about reducing the amount of plastic you use by replacing it with eco-friendly alternatives. You can create your own plastic diet, and make a ch...

Colour-full bucket twat

Image
Happy Sunday!  We have all been waiting patiently for a bit of sunshine. So, when I looked at the weather forecast on Thursday and read that the long bank holiday weekend was going to be a warm one, I was ecstatic! And as the government has relaxed the ‘rule-of-six’; permitting groups of six to meet indoors, I was able to actually see real-life people! In person! I expect a lot of people are relieved that they can now see their loved ones face-to-face, and give them a ‘cautious’ hug!  So onto the fashion side of things; I am not usually a bucket hat fan. My partner loves them, and wears them everywhere. Even around the house! However, this funky little number caught my eye on Depop a couple of weeks ago, and one impulsive buy later, here it is on my head!  The multi-coloured pattern is very much a bit of me. I looked at it and thought “I need this in my life”.  So, apologises to all the bucket hat fans out there! To my surprise, bucket hats can be awesome and...

Very vintage

Image
Who doesn’t love a vintage knit? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I get so excited when I find good deals on vintage clothes. Depop and Vinted are great websites to browse for vintage looks, but I must admit, I do love going to an actually vintage store every once in a while.  I have photographed a couple of my favourite vintage knits, which are of course full of colour ! It is difficult to know what to wear with crazy prints and/or colourful clothes sometimes. Some days I spend ages looking in my wardrobe, trying to figure out what goes with what. I usually only wear  one busy garment at a time, which I guess you could call “the statement piece”, and then the rest of my outfit is pretty plain. I worry about entering a point beyond return of crazy print overload, with clashes here, there and everywhere. However, some people make it work! - if one of those people is reading this, please give me some tips. I have not quite mastered wearing a print on print, or rainbow on rainbow just yet!  ...

70s vibes only ✌🏻

Did anyone else get a chance to soak up some sun today?  It was the perfect bbq weather! Not too hot, but not too cold. After over a year of lockdown, it is so nice to be able to meet up with our loved ones, even if it is in groups of 6 (or 2 households).  I celebrated my Nan’s 77th birthday in my mum and dad’s garden today. It was amazing to see them all; it almost felt “normal” (whatever normal is now), plus I got to eat some very yummy food and drink Prosecco!  I rocked up to the bbq in this 70s-inspired getup. I love clothing that is influenced by vintage fashion. However, I love an authentic vintage outfit so much more. I am sure I will be sharing some of my original vintage pieces soon.  Today I was wearing a collision roll neck, dr marten creepers, and a reclaimed vintage jumpsuit.  Stay safe ❤️

Hurry up Summer

Image
Who else is done with winter, and wishing summer would hurry up? 🙋🏼‍♀️ This winter has felt never ending. The sun is certainly taking its time to grace us with its presence, but when it does, these new additions to my colour-full wardrobe will be the first items I throw on.  Lazy Oaf’s motto is ‘keep it weird’, which I absolutely love. I buy most of my colourful garments from Lazy Oaf because I like how different and unique their items are. Almost all of their clothing are retro-inspired (another reason to like them), hence why the jumpsuit on the left is a crazy 70s-looking floral print.  I am a sucker for vintage clothes, but I do also love a modern piece/ company that recycles the trends of earlier decades.  Stay safe!  H - ❤️
